Vizalo Servers are Linux based Virtual Machines (VMs) and are commonly referred to as VPS.
Creating a Server
To get started creating a server you will need to have signed up to Vizalo. This involves three steps and takes a matter of minutes:
- Complete the registration form and verify your email address
- Create your company by giving it a name. All servers belong to your company, you can think of your company as a workspace or project which all resources belong to
- Enter your credit card and billing information. Don't worry you won't be billed for anything yet. We just need to verify your payment method before you can create a server
Once you have completed the three steps above you can create your first server by clicking 'Create your first server'. You will then be taken to the new server page where you need to enter some information about your server:
- Name (we recommend keeping this as something you can remember, for example the servers that host Vizalo including these docs are named after characters from the TV cartoon 'The Simpsons')
- OS Image - this is the operating system for your server
- Select the country where your server will be located - USA or Germany
- Select your architecture - x86 or Arm64 (if you're not sure we'd recommend going with x86 as this is what most people have experience with, Additionally Arm64 is only available in Germany)
- Select the spec for your server
- Optionally add an SSH key to your server when it's provisioned so that you can access it straight away (make sure you only enter the public part of your key!)
Once you've entered all that information you can hit 'Create' and in a couple of minutes your server will be provisioned. Servers can provision in as little as thirty seconds but sometimes do take up to five minutes.
